PA Ranks 3rd in Crashes with Deer

According to a report released by a certain automobile insurance carrier, who shall remain nameless, Pennsylvania ranks 3rd in the U.S. for likelihood of deer-vehicle collisions.

The animals’ mating season takes place between October and December each year and, statistically, most crashes involving deer take place during those months.

Some tips to keep in mind include:

(1) Deer travel in packs.  So, if you see one, there are likely several more in the area.

(2) Most wrecks involving deer take place between the hours of 6-9 p.m.  Be particularly cautious during those times.

(3) Roadway signs which warn drivers of deer are there for a reason.  In most cases, they are placed there due to a higher than normal crash rate.

(4) Use your high beams whenever possible and look for the reflection created when the beams hit the animals eyes.

Pennsylvania auto accident lawyers may be able to assist you and/or family member(s) who are injured as the result of a crash involving a deer.  Please contact the the firm of Handler, Henning & Rosenberg, LLP, with any questions.
